With a better understanding of the brain, we can create software applications that behave similarly to human beings. In the case of “beauty”, if we understand what are the patterns invoking the sensation we can offer search tools for better access to digital collections, for instance providing the most beautiful images first. In this scientific experiment we are asking users to tell us what is beautiful and what is ugly. Then we will use this information to train a computer to automatically classify images as beautiful or ugly. We hope that the computer will learn good taste! We will need at least 1 year to train our system, but we will be reporting our first results in around 3 months.
During the 27th October will take place the presentation of the participative experiment. The participative experiment itself would take place from 28th October to 6th November.
